Katy & Rich’s Somerset Wedding | Coombe Lodge at Blagdon
Photographing Katy & Rich’s wedding was incredible! I first met them when Rich had planned a surprise proposal at a very special location, Stourhead in Wiltshire. Thankfully Katy said yes and I was on hand to document the occasion! Fast forward 18 months later and I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at the wonderful Coombe Lodge at Blagdon, in Somerset.
Located on the edge of the Mendip Hills in north Somerset near to Bristol & Bath, you’ll find the picturesque village of Blagdon. With it’s stunning views across Somerset, Coombe Lodge was the perfect setting for Katy & Rich’s wedding day. They opted for an indoor ceremony in the beautiful Music Room followed by a cocktail reception and lawn games in the garden. This wedding had it all; A beaming bride & groom, beautiful and emotional ceremony, wedding party tug-of-war, live music, champagne spray and a killer sunset! Keep scrolling to enjoy all of the magical moments from their day, including one of my favourite photos I’ve ever captured (below) – just look at how excited Katy is when she’s in her dress!

Thorpe Garden Autumn Wedding, Staffordshire
November 5, 2024
Thorpe Garden Wedding Photographer, Staffordshire // Vic & Jason
I was thrilled when Vic & Jason asked me to be their wedding photographer at Thorpe Garden back in November. I’ve known Jason for many years so it was a real privilege to document his and Vic’s special day. Just on the brink of Autumn as we were approaching Winter, this wedding was super cosy and night-time couple portraits were a must!
Thorpe Garden is part of the Cripps & Co venue brand and is a very unique Staffordshire wedding venue. Described as ‘botanical-chic’ with its stunning ceremony room and distinctive hand-crafted yurt, all of which is enclosed into a beautifully landscaped walled garden. This venue caters for those looking for a rustic / tipi style wedding but with the benefit of accommodation in the form of a boutique hotel, Constantine House.
The hand-crafted yurt is the showstopper of this unique wedding venue. Captured here in early evening, just before the guests arrived for their reception feast (and amazing food it was may I add!). Draped with festoon lighting and rustic table settings, this created a beautifully intimate atmosphere.
This photo is a real favourite from the day. It was a moment just after Vic had walked down the aisle and locked eyes on to Jason, suddenly, it felt very real!
We got in touch with Greg just under a year before our wedding, and he was reassuring, professional, and considerate from the outset. We could tell straight away that Greg understood what we wanted from the day’s photos, but he also made some great suggestions which we took on board. On our big day, he was prompt and proactive, and maintained that throughout. He marshalled everyone brilliantly for the formal, group, and drone shots, and his candid shots throughout the whole day (the speeches and evening in particular) were really natural. He captured each part of the day perfectly. Very creative and a great personal touch – we really couldn’t have asked for more.
Before travelling to Vic & Jason’s ceremony at Thorpe Garden, I stopped by to document a little of the bridal preparations at Vic’s bridesmaids house. Here is the moment where her bridesmaids sent a pre-recorded video message from the one-and-only Miriam Margoyles. Utterly hilarious and definitely NSFW with her top tips for marriage success! Tears of joy!
Now that is a cheese cake! I always enjoy it when couples ‘break the norm’ and go for something a little different.
After a an afternoon of pretty much non-stop rain, once the sun had gone down we made it outside to capture some amazing couple portraits within the walled garden. The flower tunnel lit up with festoons was calling to me!

10 of the Best Barn Wedding Venues in Somerset & Wiltshire
May 9, 2024
Are you looking for the perfect barn wedding venue?
In need of some barnspiration? Then look no further!
In my opinion, Somerset & Wiltshire offer some of the best choices in the south of England for barn wedding venues. As a Wiltshire & Somerset Wedding Photographer, I’ve been fortunate to photograph many beautiful barn weddings throughout the south west.
Why a barn wedding? There are many reasons why a barn venue could suit your wedding and celebrations; such as versatility, rural locations and a DIY friendly approach. With options of organising your own catering with food trucks, to on site glamping and partying into the early hours! You really can put your own stamp on it. If it’s a Summer wedding you’re planning, a barn venue often leans well to indoor and outdoor options for ceremonies and even receptions, too.
For rustic charm, rural beauty and creating a laid back atmosphere; here’s my top picks for a barn wedding in these wonderful counties…
Chalk Barn
Situated in Pewsey, the wonderful Chalk Barn offers 360 degree views over the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. The barn was purpose built as an entertainment venue and is fully sustainable to run, pretty cool eh? This has to be one of my favourite Wiltshire wedding venues to photograph at. Your outdoor ceremony will be set against the rolling Wiltshire hills. The stylish Barn creates a beautiful setting for evening celebrations where you can party late into the night, there’s no one around!
The Gathering Barn
The Gathering Barn is a real hidden gem. Located on the edge of Monkton Deverill village, this beautifully restored Wiltshire barn wedding venue is situated in the heart of the countryside with spectacular views over the South Wiltshire Downs. As barns go, this venue is full of rustic charm whilst offering the benefits of modern facilities. I’ve photographed many weddings here and it’s one of my all-time favourites. For a relaxed wedding with an exclusive 4 day hire, The Gathering Barn is truly stunning! In particular, the long barn with its mezzanine and galley tables creates the perfect setting for a reception feast! This unique barn venue is situated amongst 250 acres of arable farmland and the grain stores offer an alternative backdrop for your wedding photos.
Court Farm, Standerwick
On the edge of the Somerset border, situated just 11 miles from the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, Court Farm is an idyllic setting for your rustic barn wedding. Court Farm offers multiple barns for your wedding reception and also has on site accommodation for up to 14 guests. Think laid back summer evenings, drinks reception on the lawn and cosying around the firepit roasting marshmallows until the early hours! The extensive grounds offer many beautiful photo opportunities amongst the Somerset countryside. During the Summer months, the sun sets just behind the rustic barn giving you the perfect backdrop for evening couple photos!
Folly Farm
Folly Farm is an environmentally sustainable wedding venue which is owned and managed by Avon Wildlife Trust. Located just 10 miles from Bath & Bristol, this enchanting Somerset wedding venue is surrounded by wildlife and ancient woodland. A huge attraction to Folly Farm is to hold an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard, overlooking Chew valley lake and the Mendip hills. Benefiting from on-site accommodation and glamping for the summer months, this versatile venue is a very popular choice!
Priston Mill
Located on the outskirts of Bath in a beautiful rural setting lies Priston Mill. Offering two stunning venues; The Tythe Barn & The Watermill, it’s easy to see why Priston Mill is one of the most popular venues in Bath for weddings. Both venues deliver an abundance of rustic charm and have the capability to host outdoor ceremonies. Priston Mill Weddings
Wellington Barn
Wellington Barn is a stunning wedding venue located in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. The main barn has a real ‘wow factor’ with its large panoramic windows showcasing the stunning rolling hills that envelops the venue. The wildflower meadow in Spring and early Summer offers a beautiful backdrop for your couple photos. With lots of accommodation in the form of shephard’s huts, tipis and the most amazing lake house I’ve ever seen!
Wick Farm
Wick Farm sits just on the outskirts of Bath nestled amongst beautiful countryside overlooking Somerset & Wiltshire. The 16th century rustic barns offer the perfect place to hold your celebrations with the option to hold an outdoor ceremony in the Summer months. Situated amongst 37 acres of farmland, this venue which is just a stone throw from Bath city, offers plenty of scope for your countryside wedding. Catering comes courtesy of the fabulous on site Strawberry Fields Catering. Wick Farm Weddings
Bake Barn
Bake Barn is located near to Salisbury, in the Wiltshire countryside and feels like its in the middle of no where! And for that reason, it might just be the perfect wedding retreat for you! The stunning courtyard leads you into the spacious barn where you can enjoy your wedding celebrations. Bake Barn is just one of the venues managed by the Fonthill Estate; including the enchanting Deer Park Barn for a more intimate celebration and Quarry Wood, perfect for a glamping style festival wedding!
Pennard House
Ok, so this isn’t actually a barn venue… however it is a coach house, with a grade 2 listed manor house, close enough? Pennard House is a beautiful Somerset wedding venue situated a stones throw from where Glastonbury festival is held. This versatile venue allows you to hold an outdoor ceremony and drinks reception on the grounds of the manor house, followed by your reception and evening celebrations at the converted coach house. This rural retreat offers exclusive hire of the manor house, with its grand rooms, beautiful views and even a fresh water swimming lake! For a touch of elegance, Pennard House will create the perfect quintessential English wedding.
Ashley Wood Farm
Ashley Wood Farm is situated on The Fonthill Estate near to Salisbury, Wiltshire. This beautiful venue with its pretty courtyard, outdoor ceremony space and fantastic rustic barn is a truly special place to get married. The barn overlooks Fonthill lake which makes a beautiful setting for your photos. Aiming for a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, Ashley Wood Farm delivers.
Wiltshire & Somerset Barn Wedding Photographer
That’s me! I’m Greg, based in Wiltshire and photographing weddings throughout the south west of England. I’d love to talk to you about your wedding plans. As you might’ve already guessed, I love barn weddings. In fact, about half of the weddings I photograph each year are at barn venues! The atmosphere that’s created seems to resonate well with my natural and relaxed style of photography.

English Vineyard Wedding at Denbies Wine Estate
April 5, 2024
Denbies Wine Estate Wedding Photographer, Surrey / Ellie & James
One of my all time favourite wedding venues in the UK is the ever stunning Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey. A picturesque setting, nestled amongst the rolling Surrey hills offers endless photo opportunities.
I loved every minute of Ellie & James’s wedding! We had a few moments where the British weather was causing havoc, in July of course! I’m so pleased that we made it out to the vineyards for these awesome bride and groom photos. I met up with Ellie and her bridesmaids first thing to document the preparations. It’s a privilege to capture these moments on a wedding day, Ellie’s dress reveal to her Dad and bridesmaids was truly special.
Their wedding reception was held in the Conservatory Atrium with entertainment from the super talented (and hilarious!) Stringfever. It was such an amazing atmosphere during the evening for their reception party, many a sing-a-long on the dancefloor topped off with limbo, shots and of course… doughnuts!

Jo & Chris’ Winter Wedding at Clevedon Hall, Somerset
At the beginning of 2024 I had the pleasure of photographing Jo & Chris’s beautiful Winter wedding at Clevedon Hall in Somerset. These two set the bar pretty high, it really was a fantastic start to the year! When it came to adding personal flair, Chris & Jo certainly knew how to make their special day stand out. I particularly enjoyed capturing their first look, moments before walking down the aisle together to say their ‘I do’s’.
It was such a pleasure for me to photograph Jo & Chris’s wedding and celebrations, I couldn’t have asked for two nicer people to work with! Enjoy just a selection of highlights from their day…

What a beautiful Summer wedding this was! Hettie & Scott married at St Peter’s Church in Langley Burrell, followed by their wedding reception at Bowood Hotel in Wiltshire. We made a brief stop at the entrance of Bowood Hotel to capture a few photos in front of the iconic ‘Golden Gates’. It offers quite the entrance to a wedding venue! As a Wiltshire Wedding Photographer I’ve been fortunate to photograph at Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort many times. There are so many photo opportunities for couple portraits and Hettie & Scott were fantastic to work with! Entertainment during the evening came the Park Lane Big Band; Cue lot’s of dancing and a lively party! A highlight for me was photographing the ‘photo carousel’ (a new one for me but so much fun!). Julia & Sam’s Bristol Wedding Photography
Julia & Sam held their Winter wedding at Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel surrounded by their closest family and friends for this very special occasion. Their wonderfully intimate wedding ceremony was held in the beautiful palm court with it’s stunning interior. This Victorian hotel is an incredibly luxurious venue and a historic part of College Green in Bristol. As a Bristol Wedding Photographer I’ve been fortunate to photograph many weddings throughout this wonderful city, but Bristol Marriott Royal is a favourite for me!
After Julia & Sam’s ceremony, we escaped away for 10 minutes of couple portraits. It was a bit of a drizzly day to say the least, so we opted to stay within the hotel. The bridal suite offered some amazing natural light which was perfect! The amazing staff even dropped in with a bottle of fizz for Julia & Sam and they enjoyed their first toast together as married couple! It was such a pleasure to capture Julia & Sam’s wedding, a huge thanks to everyone who helped make this wonderful occasion happen 🙂
“Greg was an absolutely fantastic wedding photographer and we’re so glad to have chosen him. We did a pre wedding shoot that was so lovely and a great way to feel more comfortable with him on the day. Greg was really lovely, friendly and professional throughout and made us feel so comfortable while ensuring he got the photos we wanted. He helped us to ‘pose’ in a way that was really helpful and looked great on camera. The photos turned out really natural and beautiful. All the communication we’ve had with Greg was prompt and professional, absolutely will be recommending him to all our friends!”

Tash & Mark’s Winter Wedding at Elmhay Park in Somerset
Tash & Mark were married at St John’s Church in Frome followed by their wedding celebrations at the amazing Elmhay Park in Somerset. Elmhay is one of two stunning venues on the Orchardleigh estate nestled in the Somerset countryside. This was my first wedding of 2022 and it was such a joy to photograph! I loved getting to know Tash & Mark throughout the build up to their wedding day and their elegant Winter wedding certainly was one to remember. During the evening we were entertained by an amazing singing chef who had the entire room on their feet, concluding with dancing and a conga line! From then on, the party was well under way!
As a Somerset wedding photographer I’ve been fortunate to photograph at Elmhay Park & Orchardleigh House many times before. On this occasion I was thrilled that Tash & Mark wanted to take a short drive to Orchardleigh Castle for their couple photos. See their wonderful highlights below!
